About PullCount

What is PullCount?

PullCount is a fan-made tracker for the World of Warcraft Race to World First — the biannual competition where the best mythic raiding guilds on the planet race to defeat every boss in a new raid tier before anyone else. Guilds like Liquid, Echo, Method, and Skyline stream their attempts live, and thousands of fans follow along to see who earns each world first kill.

The site was built because existing trackers were slow to update or buried the specific stats that matter most during a live race: how many pulls a guild has spent on a boss, which bosses have fallen, and who is ahead. PullCount puts all of that on one page, refreshing automatically every 30 seconds so you can follow along without hitting F5.

How it works

All progression data is sourced from the WarcraftLogs API. WarcraftLogs is the authoritative source for WoW combat logs — every top guild uploads their raid logs there, which is what makes pull counts and composition data available in near real-time.

PullCount polls that API every 30 seconds during an active race, stores a rolling snapshot in its database, and serves those snapshots to every visitor simultaneously. The result is a live leaderboard that stays current without hammering the source API on every page load.

The raid map, boss positions, and zone metadata are managed separately and updated at the start of each new race tier. Between races, the site shows a recap of the most recently completed Race to World First.

Who built this?

PullCount is an independent side project built and maintained by Pete, a longtime WoW player and software developer. It is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment, WarcraftLogs, or any of the guilds it tracks. It exists purely because following the Race to World First is fun, and having better tools makes it more fun.
